Jika anda masih menggunakan blackberry type jadul pasti anda berurusan dengan scrollernya yaitu trackball BB, apabila scroller tersebut macet tentunya anda merasa sangat jengkel. Macetnya scroller pada blackberry biasanya karena banyaknya debu atau “daki” yang masuk dan menempel di dalam peranti ini dan berakibat scroler sering macet bila digerakkan. saya menawarkan beberapa cara sederhana untuk mengatasi beberapa masalah ini.
1. Dengan menggunakan minyak kayu putih atau alkohol.
Minyak atau alkohol bisa menggerus debu yang menempel di alas scroller.
Caranya :

a. Oleskan minyak kayu putih pada cotton bud
b. Oleskan cotton bud tersebut ke bola scroller, Putar-putar sampai bersih.
2. Dengan menggosok trackball
Ambil selembar uang baru yang masih dalam ikatan/bendel lalu letakkan uang tersebut di atas Trackball (uang tdk perlu di lipat) dan gosokan ke segala arah selama 15 detik.
3. Dengan Menggunakan saripuspa/soffel.
a. Ambil sedikit obat nyamuk oles misalnya saripuspa atau soffel.
b. Oleskan secukupnya diujung jari telunjuk kita, jangan terlalu banyak.
c. Arahkan ke bola trackball BB, Putar-putar dengan jari yang sudah diolesi soffel tadi. Putar-putar ke berbagai arah agar semua bagian bola trackball terkena cairan dan rasakan kotoran-kotoran yang selama ini mengendap di trackball anda terlepas dengan sendirinya.
d. Setelah cukup banyak kotoran yang terlepas, usapkan ujung jari ke tisu untuk membersihkan kotoran-kotoran yang keluar.
e. Tunggu sebentar hingga kering, bersihkan dengan tisu.
f. Untuk finishingnya, lakukan kembali cara kedua di atas. Kalau bisa gunakan uang yang nominalnya besar, misalnya 50rb atau 100rb, karena menurut pengalaman menggosok dengan uang seribuan hasilnya kurang maksimal, hal ini ternyata karena serat pada uang seribuan kurang kasar.
Selama Trackball macet, anda bisa menggunakan tombol shortcut untuk mengelola Blackberry. namun sebelumnya anda harus menonaktifkan fitur "Dial from HomeScreen" . cara mengesetnya tanpa trackball adalah:
1. Tekan tombol (Call/Send)
2. Klik tombol menu [BlackBeryy] lalu tekan [O] untuk membuka menu "Options", lalu tekan [Enter].
3. Tekan [ENTER] lagi pada pilihan [General Options].
4. Arahkan kursor ke opsi " Dial from Home Screen" dengan menekan tombol [Enter] beberapa kali.
5. Jika sudah terpilih, tekan tombol [alt]. Tekan [N] untuk memilih No, lalu tekan [Enter].
6. Tekan tombol [Escape] lalu tekan [s] untuk memilih Save.
